Artist’s Bio

Rinat Halon was born and raised in Israel where she spent her teenage years in front of the camera as an actress on local television shows and commercials. After serving the required three years in the Israeli Military, Rinat moved to Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from The Ohio State University with a personalized Honors B.S. degree in Photography and Visual Merchandising.  She has been working as a professional photographer for the past 12 years in diverse environments and for different local publications. Most recently, before opening her photography studio she was the in-house photographer for the Walt Disney Imagineers. Although Rinat concentrates mostly on capturing artistic wedding and portrait photography, she also enjoys food, architecture, as well as pet and travel photography. Her work is frequently published in the Central Florida Bride magazine. Some of her “Spain excursion” images are currently part of the Queen of the Desert Ten Year Anniversary exhibit displayed in Tel Aviv, Israel. She also writes and photographs for the Queen of the Desert online monthly newsletter.

Artist’s Statement

NYC is one of my favorite places in the world. I can’t believe my last visit there was ten years ago.  It now seems to be a different lifetime - for me, as well as for the city. I was a college student then - the city still had the Twin Towers. Returning ten years later, as a (allegedly) mature adult, it seems to me that the city and I are still synchronized. We both went through some tough times - even wondered if we were going to make it. And yet, taking it day by day and moving on, we both found our way back to us. This collection represents these reflections – quite literally - in pictures. The city’s old reflecting in the new. The future is seen resting beside the present and reflecting back onto the past.   Work reflecting in leisure. Classic reflecting in modern.  Light reflecting in darkness. That is what this city is all about, and that is her strength and glory. The statue of liberty, although not an actual reflection, is and will always be to me the reflection of “victorious” - reflecting against all odds.
