Dr. Leslie Sue Lieberman, Director of the UCF Women’s Research Center was honored by the Central Florida Chapter of the International Black Women’s Congress (CFCIBWC) at the 14th Annual Conference: Every Black Woman Should Wear a Red Dress held on March, 3rd in Winter Springs.
The annual conference focused on the health of black women “Dance to the Music: Featuring Better Health.” The award is a sculpted replica of the symbol of the International Black Women’s Congress, the head of a Nubian Queen and includes a plaque thanking Dr. Lieberman and the Women’s Research Center for support and contributions to the CFCIBWC. Dr. Lieberman is a member of the Board and her research has focused on type 2 diabetes and breast cancer among African American women.
The International Black Women’s Congress (IBWC) is a global community of women of African descent and other individuals who believe in the objectives of the organization. The IBWC vision is to bring forth exemplary models of African womanhood through social, political, and economic empowerment. The IBWC was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Virginia. It has members in 30 states and 7 countries.
