The Women's Research Center is please to announce the recipients of the 2008 Awards in the Arts and Humanities
Kristine Tollefson, Associate Professor in the Theatre
Department and Martha Marinara, Associate Professor in the Department
of English are collaborating on a project entitled “Room to Breathe:
The History of Harriett Lake’s Closet” on fashion trend-setter, socialite
and philanthropist Ms. Harriett Lake. They will produce both popular
and scholarly articles, a book and other web-based materials.
Joo Kim, Associate Professor in the Art Department will pursue a project
examining the spiritual environment and life of female monks at Unmoonsa
Temple in Korea and their image in contemporary popular culture. Her
project "Beauty and Enlightenment" will result in a multimedia
instillation and classroom activities integrating art, religion, gender
and culture.
Recipients of the WRC Awards in Arts and Humanities are encouraged and
assisted to apply for additional funding for their projects.
